On public holidays, there is a surcharge of 80%. Exceptions are May 1st, New Year's Day, and the 1st and 2nd Christmas holidays. All other public holidays are specific to each federal state.
On May 1st, there is a surcharge of 200%
Employees are entitled to a surcharge of 150 % on their hourly wage for work performed on December 24th or, optionally, December 31st. Alternatively, upon employee request, time off with continued pay will be granted on December 24th or, optionally, December 31st.
On the 1st and 2nd Christmas holidays, there is a surcharge of 200%
On New Year's Day, there is a surcharge of 200%
1. Overtime, night, Sunday, and public holiday work that is absolutely necessary for operational reasons may be ordered by the employer.
2. Any further extension of working hours is only permitted in compliance with the relevant provisions of the Working Hours Act.
Points 1 & 2 do not apply to minors.
