What comes after military service? Malte Kronjäger and his colleague asked themselves this question a few years ago. Both wanted to leave the secure environment of the Bundeswehr and build something of their own. "We wanted to become self-employed, but had no idea exactly what to do," recalls Malte Kronjäger. The first step into building cleaning was more of a coincidence – Malte had already worked part-time in cleaning, and his colleague even for several years.
„Eventually, we talked about it for fun until it became serious. Then we said: Now or never!“ So, in 2022, the two founded KI-Gebäudereinigung. Initially, the business ran part-time, as both still had remaining service time with the Bundeswehr. By the end of 2022, the colleague was able to fully commit to the company; since February 2024, Malte has also completely left the Bundeswehr and is fully dedicated to the business.
Today, KI-Gebäudereinigung employs 11 employees – including many from their circle of friends who are enthusiastic about the idea and support on a mini-job basis. Despite the growing structure, the founders are still hands-on themselves: "We are still actively involved – that's important to stay close to employees and customers."

Malte Kronjäger, Founder & Owner
What aspects convinced KI-Gebäudereinigung about PlanD?
Initially, the two founders tried to manage organization traditionally with Google Drive, calendars, and spreadsheets: "We digitized everything we could – but it was incomplete. It worked on a small scale, but as more employees joined, it became chaotic."
The first attempt at a software solution led KI-Gebäudereinigung to a competitor. "At first, it was good because it was a significant improvement over our old system. But there were simply too many problems," reports Malte.
The biggest challenges:
- No offline function: "When cleaning stairwells, it often happened that we were in buildings without internet access. The app was then unusable, and we couldn't clock in. Times and photos were lost."
- Confusing user interface: "The interface was dull and uninspired for the employees – that didn't go down well."
In search of a better solution, KI-Gebäudereinigung found online PlanD. "The price was initially daunting because we are a small company. But as the saying goes: You get what you pay for. In hindsight, it was the right decision."
PlanD Success Indicators
- 50% less time spent for scheduling and last-minute adjustments.
- Zero data loss thanks to reliable offline time tracking.
- 100% transparency for material orders and working hours.
- Greater employee satisfaction thanks to a user-friendly app and intuitive features.
- Rapid invoicing through integrated quoting and invoicing.
How KI-Gebäudereinigung uses PlanD
1. Real-time scheduling
Today, all scheduling is managed within PlanD. “The system shows us at a glance who is sick or on vacation and immediately suggests solutions. This means I don't have to sit in the office for an hour rescheduling. A few clicks – and the problem is solved.”
2. Offline time tracking
A major issue with previous solutions was the lack of an offline function. “Now employees can reliably clock in – regardless of whether there's no internet in the basement or stairwell. This saves discussions and prevents time from being lost.”
3. Invoicing and quoting
Invoices and quotes are now also generated in PlanD. “Previously, we had to switch back and forth between different programs. Now we create quotes, convert them into orders, and write invoices – all within one system.”
4. Material orders
Employees can independently report material requirements in PlanD. “That's practical because then we have everything on our radar. If glass cleaner is missing, we know about it and bring it along on the next job.”
5. Communication and documentation
PlanD is also increasingly used for communication with employees. “We're trying to get people off WhatsApp and onto PlanD because it's simply more practical to separate work and private life.” Additionally, the ticketing system and documentation are being used more and more: “If a customer complains about something or has special requests, we can record it in PlanD and document the status.”
Outlook and results
Since implementing PlanD, everything at KI-Gebäudereinigung has become more structured and efficient. Malte Kronjäger offers a positive summary: “PlanD has greatly helped us maintain an overview. The software saves us time, prevents errors, and simplifies daily operations for employees and customers.”
The goals for 2025 are clear: “We want to continue growing and at least double our workforce. 20 employees is the target, and revenue should increase accordingly.” A key focus is on marketing to acquire new customers and achieve long-term stability. PlanD is the perfect foundation for us to achieve this goal.”
